🌱 Our story
Oh Matchaa! is the desire to share a thousand-year-old tradition with a touch of boldness and freshness.
Contrary to what people often think, matcha doesn't come from Japan. Before becoming a refined symbol of Japanese culture, matcha first came to life in China, under the Song and Tang dynasties.
Back then, tea leaves were ground into powder to be whisked in hot water – exactly how matcha is prepared today.
Buddhist monks used it to stay focused during long hours of meditation, and little by little, this tea ritual took on a sacred place in their daily lives.
But this practice faded in China over the centuries… while it took root in Japan, which preserved it, refined it and turned it into an art.
At Oh Matchaa!, we wanted to restore the forgotten link between matcha and the land where it was born. That's why we source our matcha where it all began: in China, in the Zhejiang province, a mythical and fertile tea region.
There, we built a direct relationship with passionate local growers who carry on artisanal farming methods that respect the plant and the land.
Together, we selected a Yabukita matcha, a cultivar prized for its finesse, its delicate umami, and its perfect balance between vegetal sweetness and aromatic depth.
Rare in China, this cultivar is usually reserved for the most refined productions – and that's exactly what we wanted to offer you.

Oh Matchaa! is that link between the past and the present, between roots and today's energy.
We deny nothing. We celebrate matcha's history, we respect its origins. But we do it our way: with packaging that pops, original recipes, colors that dare (pink and green, of course 💗💚), and a tone that makes you smile.
👋 Behind Oh Matchaa!
We're Aline and Benjamin. Two lovers of discovery, travel… and matcha.
After living several years in Asia, we had time to drink liters of it. As a latte, ceremonial, in a smoothie, matcha quickly became much more than a drink for us: a little daily ritual, a moment of our own.
And then, back in France… it was hard to find a truly good matcha, without a bitter aftertaste or fuzzy marketing. Brands often embellish the origin or lie about the real quality of the product. We no longer knew what we were drinking, or why we were paying so much for it.
Then, even harder to find a brand that felt like us: joyful, committed, transparent, with a real respect for its history.
So we thought: why not us? Why not go back to the source, rediscover that taste that had left such a mark on us in Asia, and share it here – our way.
